Developers from Bandai Namco pleasantly surprised Little Nightmares fans by revealing an entirely new addition to the series, Little Nightmares 3.
Tarsier Studios, the creators of the initial two Little Nightmares titles, are not at the helm of the sequel. Instead, the development of the game has been given to Supermassive Games, known for their work on titles like Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures.
The series has undergone a complete visual and experiential overhaul. The trailer didn’t show us the familiar characters Six or Mono, introducing us to Alone and Low instead. These two protagonists must collaborate to solve puzzles, drawing parallels to Hazelight Studios’ game, It Takes Two. Little Nightmares 3 is designed for both local and online co-op gameplay, while it still offers the option to embark on the atmospheric adventure solo.
From a gameplay perspective, the sequel introduces a new dimension. Each character can use distinct unique items to advance through the story. If you want to play solo, the AI will take charge of the actions of the second character, giving you a cohesive experience. Also, this time, the journey takes you to a fresh new place named Necropolis, away from the familiar setting of The Maw.
We didn’t get a precise release date for Little Nightmares 3. What we do have confirmation of is its launch window, slated for sometime in 2024. The game is expected to be available on various platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
