Google is breaking ground in the wearable tech market with the launch of its latest fitness band, the Fitbit Charge 6. The new addition to Google’s portfolio of wearable devices boasts advanced features, many of which were co-developed by Google’s team in Romania.

This enhancement provides users with more accurate readings for calorie counting, active zone minutes, and daily readiness and sleep scores. An EKG app also aids in atrial fibrillation assessments.
- Connectivity with Fitness Equipment: Users can connect the Charge 6 to popular fitness apps and compatible exercise equipment via Bluetooth, offering real-time heart rate monitoring.
- Detailed Sports and Fitness Monitoring: The Charge 6 supports tracking for over 40 sports and workout regimes, including 20 new activities such as HIIT, strength training, and snowboarding. Its built-in GPS ensures outdoor workouts are accurately tracked even if the paired phone is left behind.
- Musical Motivation with YouTube Music: Those with a YouTube Music Premium subscription can access YouTube Music directly from their Charge 6, receiving music recommendations based on their workouts.
- Integration with Essential Apps: The Charge 6 stands out as the first Fitbit fitness band that incorporates Google Maps and Google Wallet. This feature facilitates contactless payments and step-by-step directions right from the wrist. A new zoom-in function allows for easier text reading on the device.
- Advanced Health and Well-being Features: The device tracks oxygen saturation (SpO2), heart rate variability, respiratory rate, sleep quality, and stress levels. Its electrodermal activity (EDA) scanning assesses the body’s physical responses, offering insights for stress management.
With a complimentary six-month Fitbit Premium subscription, users gain access to thousands of workout and mindfulness sessions via the Fitbit app. The daily readiness score, a premium feature, provides guidance on workout intensity or when it’s time for a rest day.
The Fitbit Charge 6 retails at a recommended price of 799 lei. This package includes a six-month subscription to Fitbit Premium. The device is available in three color options: Obsidian, Porcelain, and Coral. Personalization options extend to an array of accessories and straps in various materials and colors, available on Fitbit.com.
The Fitbit Charge 6 is compatible with most phones running Android 9.0 and newer, and iOS 15. Usage requires a Google account, internet access, and in some cases, the Fitbit mobile app or a paid Fitbit Premium subscription.
