Every year, October proves to be a highly competitive month for video games releases, and this year is no exception to that trend. This seems to be the main reasoning behind the one week delay for the launch of Alan Wake 2.
Developer Remedy Entertainment has revealed that the release date for Alan Wake 2 is being pushed back from its originally scheduled date of October 17 to a new date, October 27.
Their press release states that:
“We’re moving Alan Wake 2’s launch from October 17 to October 27. October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games. We can’t wait to show you what everyone’s favorite novelist is up to in the Dark Place next week. Thanks for your patience!”
With October being the month of heavy releases such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Hexworks’ Lords of the Fallen, Forza Motorsport, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Detective Pikachu Returns, Alone in the Dark, or Super Mario Bros Wonder, it seems that Remedy aims to shift the release of Alan Wake 2 away from the heavy competition of these major releases. The nearest launch close to the sequel is now Alone in the Dark, which is scheduled to release two days earlier on October 25.
