YouTube is launching a new News Center to help users find credible news sources. The center will feature a curated selection of news channels from a variety of organizations, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN.
The News Center will also include a number of features designed to help users distinguish between credible and misleading news. These features include:
- Fact-checking labels: YouTube will display fact-checking labels on videos that have been fact-checked by third-party organizations.
- Source information: YouTube will display information about the source of each video, including the name of the organization and the author.
- Related videos: YouTube will recommend related videos from credible sources.
The News Center is part of YouTube’s ongoing effort to combat misinformation. The company has also taken other steps to address the issue, such as removing videos that promote hate speech or violence.
“We want to make sure that people can find the news they need to be informed,” said Neal Mohan, YouTube’s chief product officer. “The News Center is a new way for us to help people find credible sources and stay informed about the latest news.“
The News Center is now available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and India. It will be rolled out to other countries in the coming months.
